Here at Marquette Management, we want to wish all of our residents across the country a Happy Thanksgiving this holiday weekend. Whether you choose to feast with friends or travel to loved ones, we know we are grateful for our Marquette residents. However you decide to celebrate, we encourage you to give back to your neighborhood.
There are a number of national charities that work hard to give back to those who are less fortunate and would love a little extra help this holiday season. Show your gratitude this Thanksgiving by volunteering at any of these organizations. Your efforts do make a difference.
If you do plan to stay near your Marquette home, we have a few local charities to consider in your area.
Open Arms of Minnesota is a nonprofit organization that delivers meals to individuals living with cancer, HIV/AIDS, Lou Gehrig’s disease, and multiple sclerosis. From November 23rd to the 25th, this organization is looking for volunteers to help with meal deliveries in the Twin Cities metro area. Delivery times are at 11am and 2pm. Volunteers are encouraged to sign up as a group and use one car.
The Detroit metro area is home to several soup kitchens, most of which are looking for volunteers throughout the months of November and December. Help serve food to the hungry at multiple locations. Click here to find the event nearest you and sign-up today!
The Salvation Army has a number of different locations in the Chicago area that are looking for help on Thanksgiving Day. Opportunities vary from setting up to serving food in the soup kitchen to answering phones to assist with the Angel Tree program. There will be mobile units feeding the homeless in local Chicago neighborhoods. Head out for a few hours before your festivities begin.
Meals on Wheels will provide 16,000 meals to seniors in need. Come out Thanksgiving day to help distribute these meals to those who need it most.
No matter where you live in the United States, you can also search the Volunteer Match database for countless volunteer opportunities near you.
We think it is important for residents and family members to get involved in their community in any way that they can. By giving back this holiday season, you can truly make a difference in another individual’s life. By working together, we can bring some cheer to those who need it most.
If you do partake in any charity work this weekend, please contact us to let us know. We would love to hear about your experience. And if you are looking to lease in a neighborhood near you, we would be happy to help.
The best place to work, live and invest! Happy Thanksgiving and Warm Wishes.Back to all posts
