Taking care of a dog can be challenging. You want your four-legged friend to be happy and healthy. If you’re unsure if what you are doing is keeping your pup healthy, there are some pet-friendly living tips that can help you out.
Keep your dog healthy with these tips.
- Talk to your vet about the best foods your dog can eat. There are all kinds of different foods that are suitable for each kind of dog, and your vet will know what is best. You’ll want to make sure your pup is getting the right food to keep his weight healthy.
- Give you pup at least 30 minutes of outdoor exercise a day. If you have a bigger dog or a high-spirited dog, you might want to be out longer. The exercise provides a great way for your dog to let out some energy.
- Do not free-feed your dog. Give him controlled portions of food at certain times of day. Two or three meals a day is adequate for your pup to maintain a healthy weight and be fed well. If you are training using treats, adjust the amount of food.
- Train your pup to not eat from the table. Giving your pooch only food made for him helps ensure your pup doesn’t inadvertently eat something that could be harmful for him. Avoid giving your pet table scraps even if your dog begs.
