5 Tools Every Gardener Needs for Their Marquette Patio

Spring time is just around the corner, and that means it’s time to start making preparations to start your container garden at our Marquette apartments with patios and balconies attached to each unit.

Before you start preparing the soil and planting the seeds in your patio container garden, you need to make sure you’ve got all the essential tools that every gardener needs to make sure your small patio garden is successful and thriving.

While there are several tools you can use to keep your container garden doing well throughout the spring and summer, the tools you absolutely need to have are:

  • A pair of gardening gloves
  • A small watering can
  • A trowel or other multi-purpose tool for sifting and preparing the soil
  • Plant pruners
  • A ball of string to tie up your plants as they get taller to prevent bending and breakage

Gardening gloves may not seem like an essential item, but they are perfect for those of you who like to putter in your patio garden when you’ve got a few spare minutes.

They’ll keep dirt from off your hands and from under your fingernails. This allows you to spend time with your container garden and then move on to other tasks or activities with minimal clean-up.

A watering can is ideal for fragile plants and to distribute the water evenly throughout the soil, rather than just dumping it on the plants and possibly breaking or damaging the plant or shifting the soil around too much.  As for pruners, these are designed to trim plants and work much better than your household scissors.
